How to Restore Windows 7 Desktop Items to View

The steps in this article were performed in Microsoft Windows 7. This guide assumes that you are currently unable to see the desktop icons that are typically there. You should still be able to see the taskbar (the horizontal bar at the bottom of the screen), the Start button, and the time and tray icons. if you don’t see those items, then the explorer.exe process may not be running, and you will need to restore it from the task manager. Step 1: Right-click in an empty space on your desktop, which will bring up a shortcut menu.

    Step 2: Select the View option, then click Show desktop icons.
