Senior Director Mobility & Platforms Uber, Manikandan Thangarathnam says that their team of engineers at the Bangalore Tech Centre is behind the building of this product and the integration. The team took less than three months to complete the development process for the feature. Whereas Ravi Garg, director, of WhatsApp Partnerships, India says that the new way of booking uber rides within the WhatsApp interface has helped the company acquire new riders.
Here’s how to book an Uber ride via WhatsApp
All the WhatsApp users in the Delhi-NCR region can book an Uber ride in three different ways. These are:
By texting the cab provider’s business account numberBy scanning a QR code orBy just clicking on the link directly to open an Uber WhatsApp chat
The customers will then be asked to provide the drivers with their pickup and drop location, upfront fare details, and the driver’s expected time of arrival. The riders will also be informed about their driver’s details and license plates. They can further track their driver’s location and contact them using a masked number.
