PUBG Corp has also announced that the firm is cutting ties with the Chinese gaming giant, Tencent Games for its operations in India. The announcement came after the Indian government also bannedPUBG Mobile along with other 118 Chinese apps. The ban has been particularly imposed in light of the on-going Indo-China cross border conflicts. Notably, Mint also cited one of its sources suggesting that a new licensing agreement is already underway. The agreement will pass on the app’s rights to the Indian partner to run PUBG Mobile in India.Post the agreement, Indian gaming firm will manage the game’s distribution while PUBG Corp will retain the publishing rights. However, it not yet certain which of the Indian gaming firms will be getting this opportunity. Moreover, the above agreement with an Indian company in no guarantee that the PUBG ban will be lifted by the government of India either. GOI has already sent more than 70 queries to the PUBG Corp. The South Korean maker has been given a time period of three weeks to submit its response. Thus, despite many claims PUBG return in India is as uncertain as the year 2020 itself. Furthermore, experts also note that there aren’t many firms in the country that are large enough to manage PUBG.Paytm would have been one of the leading names in the race. But, the popular payment service app is already a partner with PUBG rival, GarenaFreefire. Others have claimed that PUBG Corp. may actually partner with the Indian telecommunications giant, Reliance Jio. But, in any case, PUBG Mobile ban will definitely take a toll on Tencent Games.
