Currently, Google is set to launch few significant upgrades that could speed up the performance and ensure better storage management on Chromecast and Google TV. The updates could be available for other smart TVs running Google as well.

What’s In Store?

Google TV load times on the home screen could become faster with better CPU optimizations as well as enhancements for cache management. Google says that these improvements could eventually be available on all of its devices.  Google has also said that it is working to improve navigation that will help scrolling on a tab quicker. Tab switching could turn more responsive too. Google TV will technically make use of lesser RAM post update roll out. Google is also working on image caching optimization for reducing load times for kids’ profiles as well as for browsing across content.  Currently there are more than 10,000 apps available on the Google TV. An all-new “Free storage” menu on Settings will further allow users to clear cache easily and uninstall the dormant apps. These will naturally maximize the storage space on a device. Such features are already available on Chromecast with the Google TV and are “in process” for all smart TVs running Google TV. Google has also claimed to have made few internal adjustments in terms of how Google TV handles app installations.
