It all began in the year 2017, after Karan Soin watched one of the episodes of TED Talks in which discussed about an idea of initiating a program called “DigIndia” in Garhi Harsaru village, Haryana. The program intended to launch digital education program in the village so that people can get access to the Internet and enjoy its benefits. Inspired by the idea of spreading digital education to the village, Karan Soin volunteered with several other students of the Shri Ram School, for three years and introduced digital education to 1000 people of all different age groups. Though he did not initially have the idea of developing a new application for the villagers, he later started to find out different measures by which villagers get access to the next stage and use internet for improving their day to day life. It was in the year 2019 that he came know about the difficulties faced by villagers to get loans and soon started developing ideas for assisting them in this process. According to the youngster, the app Sudhaar is meant to bring sudhaar (improvement) among people by helping them getting udhaar (loan). 17-year-old won the CSIR Innovation Award for his mobile app is a son of two doctors. According to the reports, he was inspired by his school principal to enlist for the CSIR Innovation Award. The award along with Rs. 50,000 cash prize was handed over to Karan Soin today. Karan Soin, a 17-year-old won the CSIR Innovation Award for his mobile app is absolutely thrilled after receiving national recognition and CSIR validation for his idea of launching an app for easy access to micro loans. He also credited SV CreditLine Limited’s COO, Vaibhav Peshney for mentoring him in developing the app. SV CreditLine is also one of the microfinance companies that can be accessed with Sudhaar. Karan Soin has a sound knowledge of computer studies and has been practicing coding, when he was only 13-years-old.
